Womens’ motorcycling study seeks participants

Is it possible to earn a doctorate in motorcycling?

Of course, just ask Valentino Rossi, but seriously, a safety minded rider named Ginger Bucher is doing her dissertation on women’s motorcycling as a doctoral candidate at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the Administration and Leadership Studies PhD Program.

Ginger is collecting data from willing women volunteers for this dissertation, and female passengers and female motorcyclists are welcome to be part of her study.

She is putting the word out to participate in a research study about women motorcyclists.

“The purpose of this study is to understand experiences and perspectives of women motorcycle passengers,” says her Web site. “The focus group is intended to be interesting and informative as well as beneficial to the sport of motorcycling.”

If you’d like to be a part, there is no pressure, and participants can withdraw any time if so desired. If you do withdraw, all info will be destroyed. On the other hand, if you stick through the study, your info will be kept in confidence, and it will add to the sample size for Ginger’s much-needed research.

For more details on how to participate in this women’s riding study, please refer to the WomenMotorcycling.org Web site, or the site’s forum.

Doesn’t the rider in the picture have her feet on the rear ‘pegs?
